How Do You Learn a New Skill?
Pretty much every skill you have, you probably learned by doing it – from your first steps as a baby to every skill you use in your career. But most online courses seem to involve a lot of sitting and watching lectures, and not a lot of action – why is that?
Lectures were invented to let one person teach a roomful of people at once, and most online courses follow the same structure in video form. Videos can be an amazing source of inspiration and are a great way to build knowledge, but you can’t learn a new skill by only watching someone say or do something. You have to experience it yourself.
Steppit was born from the idea that online teaching can be better. We’re rethinking the way that skills are taught online.
About Us
From our base in London, we’re a small team that want to open up access to quality teaching and learning. We started Steppit’s parent company – Workshop – in 2016, by producing courses ourselves with a handful of partners who saw the promise of action-oriented learning. Since then, those courses have been completed by tens of thousands of learners, with a 97% satisfaction rating from over 60k ratings 🎉.
In 2023, we launched Steppit to let people everywhere build quality courses using our tried and tested format, and we’ve made it our mission to break down every barrier that stands between course creators and learners.

Steppit is Built for Guided Experiences
Our goal is to create a space where anyone can learn any skill by simply participating in it, alongside a group of like-minded people sharing the same journey with them.
Steppit’s sessions are designed to always keep learners thinking or doing – they're prompted to take an action or a moment to reflect, and then move to the next step only when they feel ready – no overwhelm, no overthinking, no boredom.
We want to take the learner experience to the next level, that's why they also have access to a class, where they've always got company with feedback from their mentor and encouragement from their classmates.
We Make It Easy to Create Great Courses
Step-by-step courses are not just the best way to learn, but also great for course creators. By using Steppit, they don’t have to worry about making perfectly edited videos that grip viewers from beginning to end – they can just film one step at a time and forget the edit completely!
To make it even easier to create and manage courses, Steppit integrates AI at every stage. We’re aware that generative AI is incredibly powerful, but can also lead to generic, low-quality content. That’s why we want to use AI as a way to empower creators, not replace them. Steppit Pro lets creators fully train their personal AI assistant in their own style, so that they can take advantage of the benefits AI offers, without losing their unique voice along the way.

Right now, our focus is to give course creators a fresh platform full of tools and solutions to help them connect with their audiences, students and teams.
Our dream is for Steppit to become a hub of stress-free teaching and learning – where creators can share their skills with an engaged and interconnected community, and learners can jump in and pick up any skill with ease.
